Bleaching removes pigment from the hair using chemicals. The result will depend on the natural color of your hair, the length of exposure, the percentage of oxidant, and other conditions. Bleaching hair two to three times can create a clean base for some colors. However, excessive bleaching can lead to hair breakage, scalp burns, inflammation, and even hair loss. It is therefore important to carefully examine the condition of your hair and scalp before opting for bleaching or coloring.

When it comes to bleaching, it is crucial to check the current condition of your hair. If you've previously undergone Japanese straightening or coloring, bleaching can cause more damage. Therefore, it's best to split the process into multiple sessions rather than doing it all at once. If you've already done a curly perm, an undercover dye job can be an alternative to a full bleach. Remember to take care of your hair by using high-quality products to avoid damaging your scalp and hair.

LBlonde hair can turn yellow over time, while purple or blue hair can turn orange or khaki. Platinum colors are also susceptible to yellowing due to environmental factors such as pollution or depending on your shampoo. If you have the time and budget to invest in the maintenance of bleached hair, follow the advice of the Hair Studio Greet team:

  • Wash your hair every two to three days instead of every day to help maintain color. However, the recommended shampooing frequency depends on the condition of your scalp.

  • Use a color-protecting shampoo several times a week instead of a regular shampoo. The color pigments in these shampoos are absorbed into your hair to neutralize yellow and orange tones, which are the main causes of hair spots, and to maintain your hair's beautiful natural color.

How to Take Care and Repair Damage Caused by Bleaching and Coloring

When washing your hair, use lukewarm water to avoid damaging the cuticle layer and proteins of your scalp. If you have split ends, use products specially designed for damaged hair. After shampooing, apply lightly formulated serums and essences to wet hair (rinse-out masks), and once dry, use leave-in serums or creams. If your hair has undergone multiple bleaching/coloring treatments, nourish and moisturize it with appropriate hair products. Apply the treatment to your hair and leave it on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing. When drying your hair, use firm pressure to remove water rather than rubbing with a towel to reduce damage. If you don't want to wait to apply the product and then wash your hair, try a leave-in treatment that penetrates your hair after application.

To dry your hair, use a strong, cool blow dryer to remove water quickly without damaging it. Bleached hair is particularly prone to split ends and tangles, so it's important to brush frequently!
